Helpful Tips for Traveling
When venturing away from home, it’s wise to carry printed copies of your travel confirmations, rather than relying solely on your phone for proof of itinerary or bookings; someone back home should also have photocopies of your important documents, just in case. Should you need them, they could send the info to you quickly.
It is recommended to utilize TSA-approved luggage locks and perhaps straps too.
You should make sure to keep medication, along with sentimental or costly possessions, safely in your carry-on bag. For instance, wedding attire definitely shouldn’t be checked.
Most resorts will offer Wi-Fi, and using a VPN, especially when off-property, can boost your internet security.
It’s wise to be discreet and avoid carrying resort-branded bags or water bottles when going into town. Scammers might claim to work at the resort, and keeping your wristband covered can further prevent unwanted attention. Booking guided tours – Viator is one option, or perhaps a DMC recommended at your all-inclusive resort – is often the safest option.
In your room, securing valuables and important documents in the safe is a good idea. Take a photograph of its contents before locking up.
Remember, only drink bottled water. Luckily, many resorts now have bottle-filling stations. If you happen to become ill, don’t tough it out, visit the resort doctor.
Checking if your resort has a mobile app can be very handy for contacting the front desk, navigating the property, and even booking dinner reservations; Iberostar, for instance, has a comprehensive app.
